Perhaps the most surprising theme of the burgeoning information age is the groundswell of social technology: computing devices connected together, interacting under a social protocol on behalf of humans, has given rise to an emergent system of open-ended knowledge that can represent, with ever increasing precision, the knowledge of everything.

From distributed systems like the internet, many new benefits have been realized, and a whole new class of problems are being explored. Central among these is the question of cooperation, how can web architectures exploit more and better lines of communication?

To this end we've developed an open source software environment for the investigation of social technologies. Out of this research has come more abstract approaches, and promising new applications.
